Paul Nicholls has two interesting contenders in The Final Word and George Henry, while Dan Skelton's hurdling newcomer Kykorock also enters the reckoning along with I Ain't Your Mate, who went close in his final Irish point. However, it is hard to get away from FRENCH SHIP, who wasn't beaten far behind subsequent Grade 1 winner The New Lion at Newbury in November and sets a good standard back in much calmer waters.[David Moon]
