There is a compelling list of positives as regards HANDSTANDS who is progressing well, has an impressive strike-rate, already has Grade 1-winning form over fences, arrives fresh having bypassed Cheltenham, and brings the highest rating. Caldwell Potter, who was thoroughly dominant in the Jack Richards, is feared most ahead of Brown Advisory runner-up Stellar Story.[Steve Boow]

Back down slightly in distance and returned to an easier course, BE AWARE (nap) is worth another chance to show he's capable of winning a race of this nature. Interesting handicap debutant Wade Out is second choice, ahead of solid-looking contenders Steel Ally and Impose Toi. Some of the others have possibilities provided they stay the trip.[Steve Boow]

Impressive Dovecote winner Tripoli Flyer could pose a big threat, especially if jumping with greater fluency, but preference is for Irish challenger ROMEO COOLIO following last month's third in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. He holds Salvator Mundi on that form but it will be no surprise if the Willie Mullins runner gets much closer to the selection today. Jet To Vegas and Diva Luna are others who could run well, while Royal Infantry might be an interesting each-way candidate at forecast big odds.[Ben Hutton]

Last year's winner JONBON impressed in the winter in the Tingle Creek and Clarence House, and last month's Champion Chase defeat is immediately excusable on account of a bad mistake. He can bounce back with yet another Grade 1 win. El Fabiolo and Protektorat are capable of running well but they both arrive with something to prove and therefore a better option for the forecast could be Matata at big odds. He needs to prove his stamina but has shown some impressive handicap form this season and could enjoy the run of the race in front.[Ben Hutton]

The three oldest horses in the field have plenty going for them. In the case of ELDORADO ALLEN the positives are his reduced mark and a promising display over these fences in last season's Grand National, in which he weakened after being in front jumping four out. A return to form is needed but the reapplied tongue-tie could help. Latenightpass also produced an eyecatching display in the National 12 months ago before failing to see out the trip and he is second choice. Escaria Ten is next on the list, having run well in the 3m5f Cross Country at last month's Cheltenham Festival before fading late on. Grandeur d'Ame, Lisnamult Lad, Shantreusse and the thriving 6yo Bad all have possibilities, while last year's runner-up James Du Berlais could again be bang there but he doesn't find winning easy.[Ben Hutton]

Racing Post Logo   Spotlight :  Three Grade 1 wins in 2022; this 10yo isn't the same force nowadays but he took step back in right direction when 13l third of six in the Grade 1 Ascot Chase (2m5f, good) latest; on a dangerous mark and not ruled out.

Racing Post Logo   Spotlight :  Not easy to win with (just 1-16 for Willie Mullins) and his form this season has been mixed, but he's just 1lb higher than when second in this last year (soft) and there were encouraging signs when fifth at Leopardstown (2m5f, yielding) last month; could be thereabouts.

Mister Meggit impressed when winning over 2m4f here on his hurdling debut in November and it's almost impossible to gauge the limit of his ability but the suggestion is MOON ROCKET, who encountered some traffic and did not appear to enjoy the run of the race when second to Battle Born Lad in a Haydock Grade 2 in February. If the first-time cheekpieces have any positive effect, he ought to be on the premises again. Califet En Vol and Familiar Dreams also make appeal, while Laganhill is a more speculative option to consider.[Chris Wilson]

Dylan Johnston seemingly prefers CELTIC DINO over classy operator Lump Sum and his chosen one is of strong interest in his first handicap. The drying ground is what he wants. Afadil (second choice) must have a big shout as he was third in this 12 months ago off a 6lb higher mark and he appeared to have last month's Imperial Cup in the bag until wilting up the hill at Sandown. Country Park and Moon Chime are others of interest.[Alistair Jones]
