A few of these 3yos still have potential but top of the list is PHILANTHROPIST (nap), who won on his seasonal/handicap debut in April and drops in grade after finishing fourth in a competitive Ascot Class 2 race last month. Eve's Boy looked unlucky not to finish closer to the target on his recent reappearance at York and is an intriguing alternative. Dual AW winner, latterly when leading close home on seasonal/handicap debut at Southwell (7f) in April; kept on well for creditable fourth in good-quality Ascot handicap (7f, good to firm) when back on turf last month and commands respect in this lower grade.
Safely held on nursery debut in the autumn but is likely to have entered several notebooks after last month's reappearance at York (7f, good to firm), where he was persistently denied a clear run before keeping on well from the rear to finish sixth of 14; shortlisted.
Cut little ice in valuable races on final two 2yo starts but, following gelding and wind operations, returned with pretty good third of five on handicap debut at Beverley (7.4f, good) in April; considered.
Delivered on earlier promise when drawing clear for ready success in Redcar novice (6f, soft) in October; open to further progress in handicaps this year but has fitness to prove here and may not be as well suited by the forecast faster ground.
Came good with 7f Tapeta novice win in September, his fourth start; well down the field when dropped back to 6f on that surface for seasonal/handicap debut in April, though, and arrives here with a point to prove.
Gained his 2yo win over 7f but was evidently suited by a well-run 6f when keeping on well to cause 33-1 surprise on seasonal reappearance at Ascot (good to firm) four weeks ago; back up in trip here; may improve again.
Started off in nurseries with three 6f wins last summer but both runs this spring (6f/7f) have been disappointing and she needs to get her career back on track; cheekpieces removed after one use.
Dual 6f AW winner this year, latterly in valuable Lingfield handicap in April; didn't run badly when back on turf at Ascot last month (race won by Up The Pace) but needs to find something extra on this return to 7f.
1-9 as a 2yo for Charlie Johnston; sold for £25,000 after finishing third in a 6f nursery in October and was gelded during subsequent 242-day break; others in this line-up probably have much greater potential.
Runner-up in two 6f Southwell (AW) novice races during the winter, latterly behind a subsequent Listed winner; makes handicap debut after a five-month break but could have untapped potential over 7f.
