Neither the bang in-form Highway One O Five (next best) nor the slightly frustrating Maple appear to have anything in hand off their revised marks, and a chance is taken on PORTCAMMON, who is better than the bare facts of his latest novice outing and theoretically attractively treated if rediscovering the level of his Irish bumper form. Confidence never higher following wins in two tactical affairs of late, beating Granny B about 7l over C&D latest (good); 8lb higher in a better race, but plenty in his favour again otherwise.
In the frame on all seven hurdles completions without a win (one nose second), and going back up 2lb following Perth second last time is no help; limited margin for error, so could do with learning how to settle better.
8l behind Blackijo Dagrostis at Chepstow latest (2m, good), but actually doing the better late work after being hampered; would prove mightily well handicapped if able to replicate his bumper form for Willie Mullins over hurdles from here on, so of definite interest; cheekpieces added.
Regressive profile in novice/maiden hurdles; goes handicapping off a really tempting mark judged on the RPR for his big-price bumper debut success, but a bit to take on trust just now.
Mostly a weak finisher in maiden points for Nicky Sheppard over the winter; similar story since sent hurdling (2m-2m3f), though definite sense of late that he has a small event in him if settling better.
Revived up to a point with this month's near-7l C&D third to Highway One O Five (good), again racing too freely but keeping on, which isn't a given with her; big swing with that rival but no certainty to capitalise.
