Sambezi tends to go well here but the losing run is mounting up and Mount Olympus (second choice) is more interesting on his handicap debut, following a good effort at Fakenham in March. However, LIGHT DRAGOON is also open to improvement and he can get back on track for his in-form yard on this return. Caught the eye on handicap debut at Newton Abbot (2m1f, heavy) last time, finishing on the tails of the principals and shaping like he had more to offer; this forecast surface will be very different but he's an interesting contender who's open to improvement; non-runner at Newton Abbot yesterday.
Placed off 13lb higher over C&D (good to soft) on seasonal debut in September but ended 2024 with some lesser efforts and he was tailed off after a 102-day break here last month; first-time visor swiftly ditched.
Did win a heavy-ground hurdle race at Lingfield in 2022 and his third at Plumpton (2m1f, soft) in April 2023, his last start in this discipline, was a respectable effort; it's been a real struggle over fences since, however, and he's plenty to prove returned to this sphere.
