Would have won with any luck on handicap debut at Bath (1m, good to firm) and again found plenty of trouble before getting up in the nick of time at Wolverhampton (9.4f); he's 4lb badly in here under a penalty (only raised 2lb) but looks very capable of being better than his current mark; up in trip here but he's by a Derby winner.

Van Aert
Gelded ahead of Kempton reappearance and having attracted support (1m4f; 5-4) he ran on well to lead in the dying strides; 6lb rise seems harsh enough but he's clearly turned a corner and cheekpieces are now added.

Magic Runner
Beaten a head on nursery debut over 9.4f at Wolverhampton and shaped well back there a month ago in a race that didn't pan out too favourably; good chance that she'll stay this longer trip.

Top Of Pleinmont
His first run beyond a mile when coming from off the pace to chase home a well-backed winner over this far at Wolverhampton two months ago; beaten 4l but good chance he can take another step forward.

Middelton
Down the field in three novices at about 1m, the latest after being gelded; could be seen in a better light off this low a mark but has a good bit to prove.
