Last month's attempt at 3m did not go to plan but SMOKERINGINTHEDARK did not look short of speed when beating a smart rival over 2m4f at Muesselburgh in December and could be hard to beat if today's trip is suitable. Irish point winner Spadestep is an interesting recruit for Lucinda Russell and will be feared if strong in the betting. Kadjar Des Mottes probably won't be far away, while fairly useful Flat racer Natzor ought to build upon last month's satisfactory hurdle debut.[Chris Wilson]
