The most interesting runner is SURREY BELLE, who disappointed on her handicap hurdle debut in March but has generally done very well for Adrian Keatley since December and ran a big race in defeat in a valuable Flat handicap last month. She remains unexposed over hurdles and could be too good for this field. Dual novice hurdle winner at Newcastle (2m/2m4f) in February; flopped when favourite for valuable series final in March (handicap hurdle debut) but returns to this code after commendable second in Chester Plate on the Flat last month and could still have significant potential over jumps.
Showed benefit of latest wind op when winning twice at around 2m in February (good to soft/soft); slightly disappointing on latest outing in April, though, and needs to be back in peak form to have a chance off current mark.
Not at best over fences last season but won off a reduced mark at Newcastle (2m4f, good) in November; not beaten far when fifth of six at Cartmel (2m1f, good to soft) 12 days ago and now reverts to hurdling for first time since March 2023; could have a say; cheekpieces refitted.
Regressive and inconsistent veteran; seemingly perked up by change of headgear when close second in refitted visor at Perth (2m, good) last month and remains on a very good mark but it's not easy to predict whether he'll be in the right mood again here.
Started off for James Moffatt with two good efforts last June, latterly when third in valuable Cartmel handicap (2m1f, good; first-time hood); goes without headgear on this first start for 342 days, though, and might be of greater interest when back at Cartmel with this run under his belt.
Won twice as a juvenile hurdler in 2023-24 season but unplaced all six starts for current stable since last summer; tailed off when upped to 2m6f at Cartmel ten days ago; drops back in trip with quite a lot to prove.
Eight-time hurdle winner; no longer the force of old and would probably prefer the rain to stay away but was placed off today's mark at Carlisle (2m1f, good) in April and gave another good account a Cartmel (2m6f, good) 12 days ago.
Yet to add to his win for Alan King in the C&D juvenile hurdle on this card in 2023 but didn't run badly from out of the weights in higher-grade company on his two outings last month (first was over C&D) and holds each-way claims off correct mark today.
