Penfolds Grange and Special Ghaiyyath have both performed well over this C&D, but the former looks vulnerable under his penalty and the latter may be vulnerable to an improver. A better performance from Belgravian wouldn't be a surprise while the market should indicate what is expected from the newcomers, but WINE DARK SEA made a most promising debut at Yarmouth in the autumn, especially as the market suggested not much was expected. He may therefore prove the answer on this return.[David Bellingham]

Built on his promising third of ten on his Kempton debut (7f, Polytrack) in October when scoring by a head over this C&D the following month; the form of that race hasn't worked out, though, and although being proven under the conditions must count for something he looks vulnerable under his penalty.
45,000euros yearling; 60,000euros breeze-up 2yo; closely related to winners Mia Man (French 1m2f; RPR 91), Jungle Pulse (French 9.5f AW; 84) and Running The Game (1m3f AW; 83); dam French 6f winner, half-sister to useful 1m4f winner Ice Pyramid; stable 15-82 (18%) with 3yo newcomers in past five seasons; interesting, especially if market positive.
In the frame in three of his four starts, as when third of nine in a similar contest on his reappearance over C&D a fortnight ago after having attempted to make all in a steadily run race; each-way claims again but may be vulnerable to an improver.
Sent off 15-8 favourite for his Bath debut (1m, good) last September, but ran green and never figured (has been gelded since); bred to be much better than that and interesting to see how much confidence there is behind him on his return.
Half-brother to 7.3f-1m1f winner The Parent (2yo/Bahrain; RPR 96); dam 7f-1m1f winner (including US turf Grade 1; 108), out of 1m winning daughter of unraced half-sister to French 1m2f Group 1 winner Nadia; stable not known for winning newcomers.
Half-brother to winners Sweet Promise (9.4f AW/1m2f turf; RPR 101), Evening Story (1m-12.4f including AW; 82) and Monsieur Melee (1m4f; 79); dam 7f 2yo winner (86), out of 1m4f Group 3 winner; stable can ready a newcomer and worth monitoring in the market.
Sent off 16-1 but showed plenty of promise when second of 11 on his Yarmouth debut (1m, good to firm) last September; gelded since; this slightly stiffer test should suit him on breeding and high on the list.
First foal; dam 1m5f-2m winner (RPR 75), half-sister to US 1m/8.5f winner Money Trend, out of maiden half-sister to 1m2f Listed winner Dabtiya, is granddaughter of half-sister to French Derby winner Darshaan; stable 0-38 with 3yo newcomers in past five seasons and he looks one for further in due course.
Sister to 1m AW winner Star Studied (RPR 89); dam 1m-1m4f winner (including 2yo; 84), half-sister to winners Maybe Today (1m2f-1m4f) and Qool (German/Italian 7f-1m3f including 2yo), out of Italian 1m2f Group 1 winner; bred to appreciate a bit further, but stable can get them ready first time so worth a market check.
